Every day, computers, software, manuals, and the stories behind them are lost.

BitHistory exists to preserve these artifacts and share them with future generations. Whether you have something to donate, a story to tell, or simply want to support our work, there are many ways to help.

Before You Throw It Away

Have old computers, disks, manuals, books, magazines, software, or electronics collecting dust?

Please don’t assume they’re junk.

We’re interested in:

  • Vintage computers and terminals
  • Software on floppy disks, tapes, and cartridges
  • Manuals, magazines, and documentation
  • Prototype and engineering hardware
  • Networking and telecommunications equipment
  • Homebrew or one-of-a-kind projects
  • Photographs, brochures, and advertisements
  • Oddball or unusual technology of any kind

You don’t need to know whether something is rare or valuable. We’d be happy to help identify it.

Support The Mission

If you’ve enjoyed our work, found something useful in our archives, or simply appreciate the effort that goes into preserving computing history, we’d be grateful for your support.

Your contribution helps us save more machines, image more disks, archive more software, and tell more stories.

Thank you for helping us preserve computing history for future generations.

Help Rescue Computing History

Items can be:

  • Gifted to BitHistory
  • Sold to us (for select items)
  • Loaned for imaging, documentation, or research
  • Introduced to us through friends, family, businesses, or recyclers

We regularly travel and are interested in everything from a single box of disks to entire collections.

Know Someone We Should Meet?

We’re always looking to connect with collectors, former engineers, retired IT professionals, businesses cleaning out storage rooms, electronics recyclers, and anyone with a passion for preserving computing history.

If you know someone with a story to tell—or a basement, attic, office, or warehouse full of old technology—we’d love an introduction. Every artifact, document, and memory helps preserve a piece of computing history for future generations.

We love stories!

The history of computing isn’t just about machines and software—it’s about the people who used them.

Did you write software, run a BBS, manage a network, work in IT, or have a memorable experience with a computer system? We’d love to hear your stories.

Whether it’s a photo, a memory, or a firsthand account, every story helps preserve computing history for future generations.

Send Us Something

Want to send us software, manuals, magazines, disks, small hardware, or other artifacts by mail?

If you have a larger collection—whether it’s a few boxes, an attic, a basement, or an entire collection —please reach out first. We’d be happy to discuss the best way to preserve and transfer the collection.

Please reach out!

Whether you have a story to tell, a box of floppy disks in the attic, a collection looking for a new home, or simply want to learn more about what we do, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re always interested in connecting with collectors, former engineers, hobbyists, businesses, schools, recyclers, and anyone who shares an interest in preserving computing history.

No contribution is too small, and you don’t need to know whether something is important or valuable. If it’s part of the history of computing, it’s worth a conversation.
